The Medical Faculty of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen is looking for excellent research group leaders for its main research area Diabetes & Vascular Medicine. The position will be affiliated with the Department of Medicine IV (Diabetology, Endocrinology & Nephrology - Department Head Prof. Dr. Andreas L. Birkenfeld, Email: email@example.com). Research fields of the Department are the characterization of type 2 diabetes- and prediabetes subtypes, organ cross-talk between brain, adipose tissue compartments, liver and pancreas.

The positions as research group leader are limited up to 5 years, with an initial full-time contract for 3 years and the option for extension after positive evaluation for another 2 years. We are open to discuss during and after this period, with very successful candidates, further promotion options. A mentoring program is established to help you in sharpening your research and scientific-administrative profile to prepare you for the next step of your career.
The research groups will be established in the course of the coming year and include the group leader position and an attractive package for personnel, supplies and investments on an individual negotiation base. With their work, the research groups are expected to contribute to the main research areas and scientific strategy of the Medical Faculty, the University and the research Campus Tübingen.
As a prerequisite for employment:
A very good doctorate (PhD, MD, MD/PhD) in one of our research areas
At least two years of postdoc experience
Relevant research experience with international visibility
An apparent publication track record reflecting your scientific excellence, research focus and academic age
A convincing research concept
First experience in securing third-party funding is a plus
Excellent knowledge of English
